The EuroLeague kicks off with a hard-fought victory in France (77-80)
J1 EuroLeague
Valencia Basket had to struggle to earn its first victory in its return to the EuroLeague, prevailing 77-80 on the court of LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne in a close, hard-fought match that it held on to with offensive rebounds and which it resolved with points from Thompson and two blocks from Pradilla in the decisive moment. In the first half, Valencia Basket maintained a lead for much of the time with second chances and a moment of inspiration from a three-pointer midway through the second quarter, but they paid for their subsequent inaccuracy and turnovers to fall one down at halftime. The orange team's energy improved after the break, but De Colo and Watson held on to the evenly matched game, leading Valencia Basket to a slight disadvantage heading into the final ten minutes.
